I grew up wishing to own a bookstore thanks to You've Got Mail, so this post makes me want to come work at Zibby's!! Your vision that the shop is more than commercial transactions is what makes it glow so bright! Maybe one day my book will be on your shelf and I'll be part of the conversation that is your shop. Can't wait.
I always love your writing and listening to your podcast. Can't wait to visit your store one day. Thank you for all you offer to the community near and far!!
I'm so glad I subscribe to this Substack. I feel uplifted and inspired by your infectiously positive energy from posts like this one, and a sense of camaraderie and support when the words are more introspective or full of anguish. May your quest to serve also continue to serve you with so much love and fulfilment, Zibby.
Your story gives me hope! My 3 books were well received: 101 Glimpses of the North Fork and Islands, Wampum Exchange, and Capt Henry Green. That was years ago and they fit a geographical location, which I understand. I enjoyed giving many book talks. Now , my short stories are selling online.
I wish there was a Zibby's Bookshop in Boston!

“Oh, Zibby. I see lots of books.” Love this!!
How wonderful to be reminded of the pleasures of the bookstore community. And I'm looking forward to getting to attend some of your events soon!
Love this! Bookstores are indeed a community space. I'm in Florida, so hopefully I'll get out to CA some time soon. Would definitely love to visit!
