For not only one (enemy) has risen up against us to destroy us,
but in every generation they rise up to destroy us.
But the Holy One, Blessed be He, delivers us from their hands.
I'm not particularly religious, but it is both devastating to realize this is ancient and yet somewhat comforting to know there has always been a way through...
I so relate. I thought the Jew hate would simmer down but it’s gotten worse. I’m quite depressed about it. I usually write humor but just stopped. I haven’t posted in 2 weeks. I only read Jewish voices on Substack now. I stopped reading other humor writers. I’m hoping a break will help. Thx for sharing.
Hi Zibby! The no communication at sleepaway camp is weird, I agree! It drove my husband NUTS that he couldn't talk to our twins on their birthday. Thanks for voicing all this, and especially what you are doing about it. On an epic college tour right now for and definitely needed this entire post!
Grateful for like minded concerns, awareness- conscious living with compassion not judgement - first within ourselves then extend to the world between our 2 feet- thank you! Looking forward to new coping in my hip pocket!
Hi Zibby, I just emailed by bestie (of forty years) and she said I sounded like a different person. My email had less griping, angst and the concerns list (read as my bitching) wasn't right up top. My worries have been showing up alot more than I knew. I shared, and I know that is 'supposed' to help, but strategies are the way I roll. Thanks for sharing yours. I haven't had any! Epiphany. Thanks for the nudging and the share.
Love this, too!! It’s been a summer of worries and I love the ways you’ve found to take your mind off these worries. I’m also so upset there doesn’t seem to be a place that is safe and that people seem to have lost all semblance of critical thinking when it comes to Jews. I can’t thank you enough for standing up.
Hi Zibby, I just joined your Substack and I’m so glad that I did. Your message today really was just for me! I am clinically depressed and have been for twenty years. Thanks for sharing some of the things you do to help pull yourself out of the dark lagoon. Sometimes I’m just on the edge, but I’m never out on dry land. Yes, I’ve had therapy, every anti depressant, as well as some procedures.
I do feel better when someone like you speaks openly about mental health and all the worries that affect us. And I love your pointers on what to try when we feel this darkness. Thank you for just putting it all out there.
I’m an avid reader and that gets me through the days and night. I’m looking forward to Lily King’s new book.
Thanks again and I look forward to your words of wisdom and love.
Thanks for sharing this Zibby. I get it about not being able to communicate with your kids. I think immersing yourself in positive things that make you happy really helps. Nature, fresh air walks, dark chocolate, and dogs, especially dog posts on IG that take you away from the endless disturbing news. I think the hardest thing for me, and probably for others, is how fast it feels everything has changed before our eyes. It’s hard to cope with what we thought, and what we now know. Please keep sharing your feelings. It really helps.
Do you know that your name is popping up all over the place in reference to all the incredibly good work you do? One example: I just saw a T-shirt advertised in which you organized for the proceeds from the sales to go to LA fire victims. The hater’s BS is not your burden to bear. You’re the light.
Thank you for your honesty. We need as much of that as we can get from each other because we are not getting it from those who are making decisions that are pushing us toward a big cliff with gleeful cruelty. My go-to is my kind husband, my writer friends, my drawer full of Lily’s chocolate chips and a big class of Starbuck’s green tea. Thanks for your steadfast support.
I’ve been there and am sending you loving vibes—it will all get better. One of my 3 children was miserable at sleepaway camp—our summers were consumed with stress & uncertainty until we finally switched him to a shorter more relaxed tennis camp. Looking back, I realize his experiences (including the no phone calls) did truly help him become a strong, resilient adult. He’s now a happy 26 yr old who can handle anything! Thank you for always speaking out for all of us. You make such a difference in our lives. :)
What helps me? Posts like this! People who feel the fear and do it anyway because we have to. Thank you!
Thank you!

You're probably already aware of the Israeli comedian Sponder. He posts on Instagram and YouTube. A dose of Sponder gives me strength. He's hilarious!
Been thinking of you. Sending love and light and all the good vibes I can muster. xx

Love that you say everything that’s swirling around in my head. Thank you for sharing everything 💪💜
Thank you. My head, too!
All I can say is, it's not just you..
Thank you.

Agree. It was like overnight!

Lily's chocolate chips? Will google!

I know it helps in the long-term but the short-term is BRUTAL.
So true—it’s easy for me to say all these years later but looking back, I was a wreck :)
Your posts help. Thank you, Zibby
Thank you. xxx
It is a difficult time right now. So many people without power are being hurt. Thank you for your post and the CBT worksheets.
They help me!
