The Final Credits
Thank you to everyone who helped with our pop-up!
In the aftermath of the L.A. fires, Zibby’s Bookshop in Santa Monica launched a pop-up clothing drive to give beautiful, brand-new apparel and accessories to families who had just lost their homes in (or had been indefinitely displaced by) the fires.
Over 14 days, we served 870 families with donations from 62 brands. Local businesses helped us mobilize and we even got a two-week lease for free. So many people and brands stepped up in countless ways to make this happen. Four mental health experts were on hand to help, including two who flew in. 152 volunteers helped. At the end, we sent the extra clothes to Baby2Baby and Good+ Foundation.
We did this all with a tiny team who jumped right in to help. None of us (from the book world) had any experience in retail, but we got it done. Most importantly, we were all there to give a zillion hugs, listen to stories, and both console and commiserate.
