(Snowy) Weekly Highlights
What to wear, what to read, and what to do!
Today is a snow day! YAY! Yay? I mean, I have four podcasts and a big meeting, but aside from all that, I’m hoping to at least get outside with the kids.
Yesterday, I did manage to read the first half of the upcoming Joan Lunden memoir which I’m truly enjoying. Did you know she’s married to the head of Tripp Lake Camp and Takajo?! (Sorry, spoiler.) We’re doing an event together at the Core Club in New York on February 4th. You should come! Details here.
I also asked my Instagram followers to help me choose which outfit to wear to this coming weekend’s Zibby’s Palm Beach Retreat for Book Lovers, all gifted by our sponsor Cartolina. Here are the options. If you want to buy any of these or anything else by Cartolina yourself, use code Zibby20 for 20% off! (Spoiler: this one won!)
Here’s what else is going on this week!
Totally Booked with Zibby
Somehow it’s all non-fiction, memoir, and even poetry. Three novels and two memoirs next week.
Monday: Josie Balka, Loves of Our Lives. Moved from last week.
Tuesday: Your Life Really Does Matter with Jennifer Breheny Wallace. Turns out, it’s pretty simple: you can make someone feel good with just a sentence. Start with, “If it weren’t for you…” You can also orient your life and actions to give a new sense of meaning in everything you do and change your life — easily. NYT bestselling author (and my friend) Jennie Wallace shows you how. (And btw, all of YOU matter to me! If it weren’t for you, I’d have no show!) Mattering by Jennifer Breheny Wallace.
Wednesday: Love, Loss, and the News with Carol Lin. No, her name isn’t Carolyn. Hear what other comments and indignities Carol had to put up with on her rise to become one of the most accomplished Asian American woman on-air reporters. No, she isn’t Connie Chung. Plus read about the devastating loss of her husband. Gutted. When News Breaks by Carol Lin.
Thursday: Running a Jewish Media Company with Rabbi Dovid M. Cohen. Have you heard of the Algemeiner? I must admit, I hadn’t until they made me one of their Jewish 100 in 2024. (I was blown away to be selected as one of the top 100 people in the world positively affected Jewish life.) Well, anyway, this media organization is amazing in large part thanks to the deft leadership of Rabbi Cohen. Their big gala is coming up. You should check it out.
Friday: Transitioning to the Next Stage with Krista Williams. Podcast guru and bestselling author Krista Williams joined me to discuss her book Almost 30 (which would be Almost 50 in my book). We really discussed life transitions, creating something from nothing, resilience, pivoting, and how we need to go to lunch together.
Watch: The “Totally Booked” TV Show on JBS
Susan Choi’s Flashlight aired on TV last week! Watch here. All past episodes here.

Events
RESCHEDULED!!!: The 92NY (92nd and Lex) event scheduled for tonight has been postponed to June 1st. We’ll be discussing On Being Jewish Now with Allison Gilbert, Rabbi Steve Leder, humorist Jenny Mollen, and fashion diva Rebecca Minkoff.
On Wednesday at 6:30 pm, I’m doing a live podcast with Dr. Jennifer Reid about her book Guilt Free. It’s a private event for my kids’ school. (If you’re a parent there, please come! You know who you are!!)
As I mentioned, this weekend is our Palm Beach Retreat for Book Lovers! The weekend pass is sold out but you can grab the last tickets for the Saturday luncheon with People books editor Lizz Schumer, social book star Sophia Stallone, and authors Jenna Blum, Marie Benedict, Miranda Cowley Heller, Julie Doar, and Audrey Ingram! Link here.
Innermost Thoughts
Last week I wrote an emotional piece about loss, family, and appreciating your travel companions while you can. My Z.I.P. members had access to that and all essays. Hope you’ll upgrade to read it.
Item of the Week
My husband Kyle got me this phone case from BaubleBar. Obsessed. (You can browse ALL my favorites on my ShopMy page here.)

I voted for that skirt and can’t wait to see (and meet) you in it this weekend!!
Wonderful update. Did you know Joan used to host a women's camp at Takajo at the end of the summer season? Some of my female family members attended, and they loved it! I wish she still hosted the camp, as she is a terrific supporter of women.
