Between Chapters
Your stories. My platform. A new section of Zibby's Highlights. All stories welcome.
Hi everyone! Ten years ago, I was a stay-at-home mom and frustrated aspiring author on the Upper East Side. My entire life changed because of one suggestion from a friend that I decided to take and not ignore: “you should start a podcast.” (Thanks, Sarah Mlynowski.) I didn’t know what I was doing but I decided to try. Why not? That one choice led me to a completely different chapter from the one I anticipated.
Now, I want to take my story — which I share intimately in my upcoming book — and turn it into something for all of us.
In the new Between Chapters section of Zibby’s Highlights and on Instagram, I’ll be helping create a community resource — with you. Because we’re all in between chapters.
“Chapters” can be big or small:
divorce
career change
empty nest
illness
loss
recovery
creativity
writing a book
graduation
moving
redecorating or building
dating again
becoming an “influencer”
becoming a parent
starting a business
starting a podcast
starting to read a new book
making new friends
activism
retiring
burnout
new medication
season
new parenting milestone
widowhood
loss of a parent
launching something exciting
…. and so many others.
Next steps:
Consider contributing a short answer, voice note, or essay — or just take a short anonymous quiz so we can all see how many people are in the same boat!
Some of these stories will be excerpted across my platforms (with your permission, of course).
What chapter are you leaving? What chapter are you entering?
How do you feel about the chapter you’re in or where you’re going?
What decision(s) did you make that took you into an unexpected chapter?
What advice can you share about how you got out of an unwanted chapter?
Click here to share your story, essay, or one-sentence answer!
Take this one-question poll! I’ll share the results next time.
The goal of all this? To inspire. Connect. Learn. Laugh. Grow. Act. Because we’re all between chapters.
Please share this initiative with someone you know who is between chapters, got through a tough chapter, or who inspires you in some way.
All stories welcome.
Warmly,
Zibby

I entered a whole new chapter last year at 62 when my first book was published. Now my second memoir is coming out in September and I can't imagine being any happier than where my life is now. I hope to inspire others with it's never too late to live your dreams. I know you now and so many other extraordinary women. Life is such a grand adventure.
Not only did your life change but think of all the joy and happiness you have brought into so many of our lives-with your podcast, book club, author interviews, your bookstore. I really needed to hear this-I feel like I need to make a change in my own life. Thanks Zibby.
