It's complicated! You perfectly captured the challenge of this moment. As Jews, we're trained to hold conflicting realities and emotions at the same time and to celebrate every drop of joy even while fighting against injustice - but nobody ever said it would be easy! I'm holding my breath too ... Thank you so much for all the light you bring.
American Jews have become too complacent. Even with the rising anti- Semitic hate crimes throughout our country particularly in NYC & LA, many hold to the notions that it won't get worse, nothing horrible can happen here. It scares me in my waking hours and in my sleep until sleep fails me and I wake up startled like my burglar or fire alarm is screaming at me, forcing me into action. We must not forget that this is how many well educated, cultured, polished German Jews felt as Hitler rose to power. They thought and believed in their souls that that nothing bad could happen to them there. Today the Jews who are voting for Mamdami have forgotten this vital lesson. They are not listening to what he is saying and not looking at who is he. I fear that they will have no one to blame but themselves. I pray that I am wrong.
Mazel tov to you and Kyle on your anniversary. And, may Kyle's mother and grandmother's memories be a blessing. Your way with words is just so beautiful. Was moved by this sentence in in particular, " the blooming hydrangeas and sparkling seas, with the darkness in the world and in my feed." Here's to a real cease fire, peace and positive outcome in NY election. Thank you for all you do Zibby. Ellen Zweig
Happy Anniversary to you and Kyle! Thank you for articulating the challenge of continuing to live a joy-filled life in an increasingly perilous and angry world - and thank you for sharing your light and acknowledging the value of creating art and literature and opportunities for connection, all of which can be healing sources of hope.
Happy Anniversary, Zibby! These really are difficult and crazy times and sometimes it's hard to figure out why people close to us or whom we respect have views that seem antithetical to universal principles of goodness. Hugs!
I couldn’t have said it better about the hope of a ceasefire and Irans attack shortly afterwards. I’ve heard similar gushing about how ‘progressive’ Mamdani is but I reminded my friend that she owns her apartment and its value will be zilch if he gets in

Mamdani is not an antisemite, how many times does he have to say it? Propagating false claims helps no one.

Happy anniversary! 🥂
Your podcast - do you feature only authors of books you've published? Or any that capture your interest?
You have done so much for your people. And for a better world. Take pride in that. And happy anniversary!
